Welcome to my blog! I am an artist, teacher and most importantly mum of two who lives with my Radio producer husband in the burbs of Brisbane, Queensland. I love creating art, painting, drawing, woodworking and making crafts. I also love being inspired by my two little ones, who lead me (as much as I do them) through adventures in creativity.
By creating this blog, I am aiming to not only document, but be more mindful of living a creative life. As a teacher I see so much emphasis on academic achievement with great focus on Maths and English , The Arts often seem to get sidelined. Yet, when we watch our young children at play it is painting, singing, dancing, role playing and creating that fuels their love of life. Why does that change as we grow up?
Creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status.”— Ken Robinson
I believe that the creative experiences at our house are not profound, but are very important, whatever the outcome. They lay the foundations for our kids to feel secure to play out their ideas, make 'mistakes', celebrate successes, develop a variety of skills and to be themselves.
I hope you enjoy the journey with us
:) Carli
